Renewal Help for Teachers – ReTRAC

A committee was established within the Region in 2005 to assist teachers with the 5-year certificate renewal process.  The Local Professional Development Committee (LPDC), that had been operating since the new renewal law had passed in 2000, was eliminated at the end of the 2003-04 school year.  This left a void for teachers who needed help in collecting and recording their required professional development and transmitting it electronically to the ROE.  ReTRAC was formed to fill this void.

The Regional Teachers Renewal Assistance Committee is composed of at least one teacher in each district who is available as a teacher helper and a liaison between the teachers and the Regional Office.  For a teacher whose certificate is coming up for renewal on July 1 of any year, it is important to understand and follow the procedures and timelines to successfully complete the renewal process.  ReTRAC will also assist those teachers, who currently have Initial certificates, to apply for Standard certificates at the completion of four years of teaching experience.

Listed below are the ReTRAC members.  We would like to expand the membership to include ISVI.  Jacksonville may also need another member to assist the large number of teachers.  Volunteers should call Jeff Stephens, 243-1804.  A yearly stipend and  CPDUs per semester are available for the members.  Please use this committee as a valuable resource.
